Robin Riker returns as Angelica Roth this season.  If her presence in Season 2 is any indication, things are about to get really messy for the DeVanity clan!  Once she learns her son has been shot & daughter is alive, who knows what wrath she'll bestow upon them.  

​Hold on tight, it's about to get very, very bumpy! 

I had the pleasure of chatting with veteran actor Gordon Thomson, who is slated to appear in Season Three of DeVanity as Patriarch of the Regis Jewelry family, Preston Regis.

Thomson is very excited about the project and the fact that creator and star Michael Caruso tailored the role specifically for him.  Initally asked if he preferred to play a 'good' or 'bad' character, Thomson fittingly requested to be an adversary of the DeVanity clan.  Thomson described Preston Regis as, "Adam Carrington all grown up without a leash...he's completely not only imorral, but amoral."​

He described his time on the set was an incredible experience, with nothing but praise for the talented cast and crew.   He was amazed at the amount of work that is done in a short period of time, on such a shoe-string budget.   Asked what made him decide to do a web series-  simply put he loves the look, feel and writing.  He went on to say the only difference between DeVanity and Dynasty is budget.  The script is very well written, well crafted and he is impressed with the way Michael runs his crew.

We spoke of his days on Dynasty which he expressed was "...a wonderful learning experience", specifically from legendary actor John Forsythe (Blake Carrington).  Thomson described Forsythe was a great example of how to lead a cast and he followed in his footsteps as his own career flourished.  Thomson was actually chosen for the role of Adam Carrington by Aaron Spelling himself, though the iconic Joan Collins felt Thomson was too old for the role, she quickly changed her mind after his screen test.

Thomson laughed at the fact Michael was born the year he joined the cast of Dynasty, which is why he was so facinated at Michael's knowledge of the show, inside and out.  "He knows why it works.  If they ever do a sort of Dallas-type reunion of Dynasty, I hope to God Michael is in charge of the production because he gets it like nobody else I know."

Thomson and I spoke a little bit about the web genre. He feels really lucky to get in on the ground floor of the onlline arena, as the medium is still in its' infancy.  "If you're going to be acting on a soap opera or any show, it's going to be on the web", he stated.  He further loves the fact there are no restrictions regarding content, one has the freedom to create whatever they want, which enables actors to really take their craft to a whole new level.

Finally I asked Thomson how he would sum up DeVanity.  "It's a very grown-up, slightly younger version of what made Dynasty special when Dynasty was at its' best."

I'd have to agree with that statement Gordon!
